Fake Single on Ebay?

Doesn't this seem like false advertising? Unethical? Or is it just the old 'buyer beware'? I suppose anyone who uses ebay to buy stuff could probably figure out how to google 'chambers stove'?where todd's site is the last result on the first page!

In fact, I asked this seller a question a week or so ago, as to why she/he felt that this was 'designed for' the Chambers stoves. I guess the seller found a cache of pots and has been cadging lids around to put with them and list on ebay as thermowell pots.

Here's what she said in reply:
"No, the pot does not carry the Chambers logo; nor does it have the Hotpoint logo. It is in fact an Aluminum Thermowell Pot, with the markings as CLEARLY stated in the auction description. This item will fit either the Hotpoint or Chambers Ranges equipped with the Thermowell unit. I have sold over two dozen of these pots since I have been selling on Ebay. All the info is there in the description you just need to READ the information!"

This kind of listing shows up on e-bay pretty regularly. Pots were manufactured for use in the deep wells of Chambers (and other stoves with deep wells) by companies like Mirro. The problem is that not all of them actually fit properly in the deep well on our stoves. Some are too tall and that prevents use of the thermowell lid. A Chambers stove owner who is considering bidding on one of these pots has to request all of the pertinent dimensions such as height with the lid on and diameter to make sure that the pot will fit in the thermowell of a Chambers stove properly. It is irritating to see these pots listed with descriptions that seem pretty deceptive to me.

Wow! We have a pot exactly like that. It was in the storage compartment in my Chambers when we bought the house. We've never used it because the pot doesn't fit in the thermowell. The ridge around the top it too wide across. I avoided geting rid of it because I didn't know for sure what it was.

I'll fess up. I bought a similar pot because I wanted a pot that sat inside the t-well without the cover for canning small amounts of food. I would still like one, if I could find one that fits.

The pot I got was too small. I was disappointed, to say the least, but that seller never claimed it would work in a Chambers or any other specific stove. He/she just listed the pot for what it was - a Mirro.

I can't stand smart alec sellers. I had one guy tell me he "didn't give a d*** if I bid or not." He never did sell his stove. I wonder why???
